If you would like to contact me about joining the lab or opportunities for collaborations, the best way to reach me is by email. My email is anne.hatmaker [at] uga.edu.
For current graduate students in the Integrated Plant Sciences graduate program who are interested in rotating with me, please contact me to discuss potential projects.
For prospective graduate students, I am able to take students through the Integrated Plant Sciences graduate program at UGA or by direct admission to the UGA Department of Plant Pathology graduate program. If you are interested in applying to either program to work with me, please do not hesitate to contact me about funding opportunities prior to submitting your application.
Current opportunities in the lab:
- Postdoctoral researcher: Dynamics of population genomics and transposable elements in Aspergillus and Fusarium.
- The successful candidate must have experience using whole genome sequencing data for comparative and/or population genomics and must be comfortable coding via the command line (e.g. R, python, bash).
- This position is currently funded for two years.
- Graduate student (Ph.D. or Master’s): Multiple projects available in fungal genomics, particularly to study regulation of secondary metabolism using transcriptomic data.
- If you are interested in joining the lab as a graduate student, please see the options above for graduate programs. I am happy to discuss which program would work best for you.
- Funding availability will depend on the project. Please reach out if you are eligible to write a submission to the National Science Foundation Graduate Resarch Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) and would like to work together this summer/fall (2026) to submit a proposal, particularly if you are interested in data science projects.
If you have independent funding or would like to work together to submit applications for fellowships, please do reach out! Some examples of opportunities for postdoctoral scholars include the NSF PRFB, the Simons Foundation Fellowship in Plant Biology, or the Life Sciences Research Foundation award. For those interested in applying to UGA as a graduate student, I would love to hear your ideas and help you submit an NSF GRFP proposal, an application to the Simons Graduate Fellowship in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, or explore other avenues for funding.
